First responders were dispatched to Oakley Avenue at approximately 5:20 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 13, the Nassau County Police Arson and Bomb Squad reported.
Upon arrival, first responders found the house at 146 Oakley fully engulfed, and the fire quickly spread to a neighboring home. Crews from the Elmont Fire Department and Franklin Square Fire Department responded to knock down the flames, which did extensive damage to both homes.
According to police, a firefighter, and the occupants of the home - a 70-year-old man and 58-year-old woman - were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment and evaluation on injuries. They were listed in stable condition on Thursday, Nov. 14.
The cause of the fire is undetermined and under investigation.
